We’re hiring for our NEW After School Program
Job Title: After-School Art Educator
Radiate Art Space in Richmond is looking for an after school art teacher or teachers to work 2:00-5:30 PM for a new program running Monday through Thursday starting the first week of January 2024. MMUUSD has an early dismissal day one Wednesday a month and on this day the program will begin two hours earlier. Radiate is open to the position being filled by more than one individual. The teacher will work with an assistant. The job will require several paid days in December to work with the Director / Board Members to prepare for the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation:
Lead art classes (typically ages 5-10).
Collaboration with Director/ Board Members:
Work closely with the Director/ Board Members to align the art program with the overall program objectives.
Attend regular planning meetings and provide input on program development and improvement.
Collaborate with the Director/ Board Members on promotional activities and parent communication related to the art program.
Materials and Space Management:
Set up and organize art materials, supplies, and equipment for each session.
Ensure that the art space is safe, clean, and conducive to creative exploration.
Manage and maintain an inventory of art supplies, requesting additional materials as needed.
Student Engagement and Support:
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel encouraged and inspired.
Provide guidance and support to students during art activities, helping them develop their artistic skills and self-confidence.
Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to all participants.
Safety and Behavior Management:
Enforce safety guidelines and best practices during art activities.
Manage student behavior to maintain a respectful and focused learning environment.
Assessment and Progress Tracking:
Maintain records of student attendance and participation in the program.
Provide regular updates and reports to the after-school director as requested.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or after-school setting.
Strong artistic skills and a passion for teaching and inspiring creativity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of age-appropriate art techniques and materials.
Benefits:
Compensation is $30/hour
Educators have the opportunity to utilize the space for other class offerings outside of the afterschool program for a nominal fee.
Use of the office space and studio during off hours.
